Fire and Ice Metaphor Poem: 3rd Place Winner "Friendly Fire"

Should this fire be shut down When it barely starts to rise? After decades in this town, Has my heart been paralyzed? Since I can’t intimidate My emotions have turned runny. In my long search for a mate The whole journey keeps me funny. I am out of salty water. My blood melts away with heat. But, it really doesn’t matter. Nothing happens in a beat. In the fire, water boils. Yet water can put out fires. In the mean times faith spoils, In the distance love expires. How the hell am I to burn In a land so full of ice If my clock keeps at its turn And my days roll like a dice? I have made my own decision To a life of friendly fire. In my new self-admonition Holy water won’t transpire.
